Preserving memories of cinema-going in Norfolk

Norfolk at the Pictures is a Heritage Lottery funded project in development by Norfolk & Norwich Film Theatre Ltd and delivered by Cinemaplus at Cinema City in Norwich.

The aims of the project are to preserve the heritage of cinema-going in Norfolk as well as creating a new Screen Heritage Centre for Norfolk at Cinema City.

Norfolk at the Pictures  wants to involve cinema-goers from all over the county, including a call to contribute their memories of the lost cinemas of Norfolk and their experiences of attending them; what films were shown, what they saw, who watched them and why.

Norfolk at the Pictures will be a county-wide project with special pilot events and screenings in 2013.

Memories

We want to hear your experiences of local cinemas past and present, what were the buildings like? What films did they show? Perhaps you even worked or still work at a local cinema?

All of the memories will be collected, exhibited and preserved through a variety of methods including a commemorative publication and online platform. There will be many other ways for members of the public to be involved in the project as it develops through training opportunities, volunteering or attending one of our special events.
