Priory School - 1953 Coronation Banner
Priory Girls School 1948 -1953
By Val Norman
The Coronation Banner was made in 1953 by girls at the Priory School. Each square of the panel has one of the girl’s name stitched on it. The banner was given to Colin Browne at a Priory School reunion and he kindly donated it to the Time and Tide Museum.
The banner underwent repair by Stitchers in Time, the museum’s volunteer sewing group, earlier this year and is currently on display at Time and Tide as part of Coronation and Jubilee exhibition.
Were you or someone you know involved in the making of the banner?
