Canterbury Fish & Chip shop history?

By Caroline Piper

Hi I used to live in Great Yarmouth from 1982 to 1987. I used to live above the Canterbury Fish and Chip shop. I think its a laundrette now. I wonder if any one knows the history of the building. I believe it used to be a pub.

Hi, I now own the Canterbury. I run it as a dry cleaners and laundrette. The upstairs is flats. It did used to be a pub, but other than that I'm afraid I don't really know much about it's history.

It did used to be a pub - my great grandfather (or possibly great-great) used to keep it, according to my partner's research. In fact, we are visiting Great Yarmouth this very week in order to take some photos of the building, I didn't realise the fish bar had now closed.

This building hasn't been used as a pub for nearly 100 years! The Canterbury Hotel closed down in 1914

Hi. I've just seen the comments by Caroline Piper regarding The Canterbury Fish and Chip shop. I also used to live in the flats above it. My name was Mandy Deane at the time and I left Great Yarmouth around the same time as she did. If you see this Caroline, look me up on Facebook, would be lovely to catch up. My name is now Mandy Rogers and it's a wedding photo
