Photographs of Britannia Pier from 1900 onwards

Postcards showing the changing face of the pier, necessitated by its destruction by fire on several occasions

By John Layton

The Britannia Pier has undergone several changes over the years, due to its destruction by fire on several occasions, the last time being in the early hours of Easter Monday, 19th April 1954.

On the last postcard, presumably pre-1954, the show on the billboard is 'Summer Rhapsody'.  Can anyone remember exactly when this was staged?

The postcards shown here have no dates on them, so we can only guess as to the chronological order of the pictures.  If anybody knows more, perhaps they could let us know!
