The things I recall about the sailors' home on Yarmouth sea front was its museum up the stair on the first floor. It was (full of)items that were brought back from around the world, I suppose by the saliors. One I remember was a mummfied hand plus many stuffed rare birds under glass covers Is it still there I would like to know?

The shipwrecked Sailors Home Museum later formed the basis of the Maritime Museum. This was run by Norfolk Museums & Archaeology Service until 2003 when the collections were moved to the new Time & Tide Museum on Blackfriars Road. The Shipwrecked Sailors Home building is now used as a Tourist Information shop and offices.
